Prof. Lionel NI – Provost, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Prof. Lionel M. Ni took office as the Provost of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on May 16, 2019. He is concurrently Chair Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. Prior to this, he was Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) and Chair Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Macau. Prof. Ni was also the Chair Professor and Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dean of HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School and Special Assistant to the President. Prof. Ni earned his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1980. He was Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University (1981 to 2002), the Microelectronic Systems Architecture program director at US National Science Foundation (1995-1996) and co-founder and CEO of CC&T Technologies, Inc., Michigan (1998-2001), and the Chief Scientist of the China’s National 973 Program on Wireless Sensor Networks (2006 to 2011).
The Honourable WONG Kam-sing, GBS, JP – Secretary for the Environment, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
Mr KS Wong has been appointed as the Secretary for the Environment of the HKSAR Government and assumed the post on 1 July 2012. Mr. Wong is an architect by profession. He has been promoting sustainable built environment since 1990s, including serving as the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Green Building Council and the Chairman of the Professional Green Building Council. Before joining the Government, he has contributed to the work of a number of Government advisory bodies. He was the convener of the Support Group on Combating Climate Change: Energy Saving and Carbon Emission Reduction in Buildings. He was also a member of the Support Group on Building Design to Foster a Quality and Sustainable Built Environment.

Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok, SBS, MH, JP – Legislator, HKSAR Legislative Council; Chairman of the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong
Dr. Lo is Member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, representing the Engineering Functional Constituency, and is the current Chairman of the Public Works Subcommittee under the Finance Committee. He is member of the Housing Authority, the Hospital Authority, the Airport Authority and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, and is Honorary Chairman of the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency. He is Chairman of the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong, and Founding Chairman of the Hong Kong Green Strategy Alliance. He is also member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and member of the China Association for Science and Technology.

PROF. CHRISTINE LOH, SBS, JP, OBE, Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite, – Co-chair, 6RAQM; Chief Development Strategist, Division of Environment & Sustainability, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Prof. Christine Loh is the Chief Development Strategist, Institute for the Environment, HKUST. She is also Visiting Professor at the Anderson School of Management, UCLA. Prior to 2018, she was the Undersecretary for the Environment at the HKSAR Government (2012-17) and prior to that she was the CEO of the non-profit think tank, Civic Exchange. Professor Loh was also a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council prior to 2000. She is well-known for her many years of work in air quality management and urban planning. Her current affiliations include being an Advisor to the Hong Kong Green Finance Association and a Director of Global Maritime Forum. Professor Loh is a publisher author of many academic and popular works, and she is a sought after speaker as well as moderator.
Prof. HAO Ji Ming – Professor of Tsinghua University, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering
MR. TSE CHIN-WAN – Under Secretary for the Environment, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
Mr Tse joined the former Environmental Protection Agency in 1985 which was subsequently reorganized in 1986 to become the current Environmental Protection Department (EPD). Throughout the service with EPD, Mr Tse had taken up a wide range of duties at professional and senior managerial levels. He was appointed as a Deputy Director of Environmental Protection in 2013 and subsequently as the Under Secretary for the Environment in August 2017. He possesses a broad spectrum of experience in various areas of environmental protection, including law enforcement, computer modelling, environmental monitoring, environmental impact assessment and planning, policy development and cross-boundary cooperation with the Mainland.
Prof. ZHONG Liuju – Chief Expert of Atmospheric Environment, Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangdong Province
Dr. Sarah Rees – Assistant Deputy Executive Officer, Planning, Rule Development, and Area Sources Division, South Coast Air Quality Management District
Dr. Sarah Rees is the Assistant Deputy Executive Officer at the South Coast AQMD’s Planning Division. Her work focuses on the implementation of mobile source programs and development of the Air Quality Management Plan and other planning activities. Sarah has over twenty years of experience in air quality and climate change matters at the state and federal level. Prior to South Coast AQMD, Sarah directed the Office of Regulatory Policy and Management within EPA’s Office of Policy where she oversaw the Agency’s regulatory agenda and advised senior Agency management on the development of high profile regulations. Previously, she served several roles within Washington State’s Department of Ecology, including directing Ecology’s programs to address climate change, and leading the planning and rules section within Ecology’s Air Quality Program. Formerly a chemical engineer and environmental attorney, Sarah obtained her PhD in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University.
PROF. ZOU JI – CEO & President of Energy Foundation China
Prof. Zou is highly regarded in the climate and clean energy space. He previously served as a deputy director general of China’s National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, under the government’s National Development and Reform Commission, focusing on China’s low-carbon development strategy and policy, and also led international climate negotiations and collaboration. Prof. Zou was a key member of the Chinese climate negotiation team leading up to the Paris Agreement. He served as a China representative to the United Nations Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing. He contributed to the assessment reports of the IPCC and has facilitated academic exchanges between Chinese and international policy researchers. Prof. Zou holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a master’s in Technical Economics, both from Tsinghua University, and a Ph.D. in Resources and Environmental Economics from Renmin University. He was also a visiting scholar at Harvard University and The London School of Economics and Political Science.
Dr. MA Jun – Chairman & President, Hong Kong Green Finance Association
Dr. Ma is the Director of the Center for Finance and Development, Tsinghua National Institute of Financial Research. He is also a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China, Chairman of Green Finance Committee of China Society for Finance and Banking, Chairman of the Supervisory Workstream (WS1) of the Central Banks and Supervisors Networking for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) and Co-chair of G20 Green Finance Study Group. Before joining Tsinghua University, Dr. Ma was the Chief Economist at the Research Bureau of the People’s Bank of China. Prior to that, he worked for 13 years at Deutsche Bank, where he was Managing Director, Chief Economist for Greater China, and Head of China and Hong Kong Strategy. Dr. Ma was a public policy specialist, economist and senior economist at the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, and a research fellow at the Development Research Center of China’s State Council.

Dr. Jeanne NG – Chairman, Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals Ltd
Dr. Jeanne Ng is currently the Chair of the Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals Limited (HKIQEP) and Director of the CLP Research Institute. Jeanne holds a BSc in Toxicology from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Environmental Management from the University of Hong Kong. She had a decade of consulting experience in Hong Kong’s environmental industry as one of Hong Kong’s foremost experts in air and greenhouse gas emissions inventories. She joined CLP in 2003 and was involved in starting up its Group Environmental Affairs and Group Sustainability functions. She was previously a Board member of the Air & Waste Management Association (AWMA) and is currently a Board member of the International Electric Research Exchange (IERE) and Green Electronics Council (GEC).

Dr. Kenneth LEUNG – Principal Environmental Protection Officer, Environmental Protection Department Hong Kong SAR
Dr Kenneth Leung is a Principal Environmental Protection Officer of the Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong Government SAR. He is responsible for air science matter, management of the air quality monitoring network, air quality modelling and forecasting, compilation of emission inventory, collaboration with Guangdong Provincial Government on regional air quality management, carrying out air quality researches for the Greater Bay Area and setting emission reduction targets for Hong Kong.
Prof. WANG Tao – Chair Professor of Atmospheric Environment, Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Prof. Wang Tao is a Chair Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He received PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992 and did postdoc research at the University of Michigan. His research interest includes the chemistry of natural and polluted atmosphere, air pollution-cloud interactions, urban and regional air quality management. He has been the coordinator of several large projects funded by Hong Kong Research Grants Council’s Theme-based and Collaborative Scheme and by the Environment Conservation Fund. He was the Chief Scientist for a China’s National Basic Research Project on acid rain (2005-2010), on the Scientific Steering Committee the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry Project (2013-2017), and an Associate Editor of Journal of Geophysical Research-Atmospheres (2008-2017). He is a Founding Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals and a scientific advisor of the Hong Kong Observatory. He was a recipient of PolyU President’s Awards for Excellent Performance/Achievement in Research in 2018.
Mr. LIU Baoxian – Director, Beijing Municipal Ecological and Environmental Monitoring Center
Liu Baoxian is the director and a senior engineer of Beijing Municipal Ecological and Environmental Monitoring Center. His main research areas are ecological environment monitoring technology, air pollution cause analysis, etc. He was responsible for and participated in the formulation of more than 20 national environmental monitoring standards, published more than 80 papers, and obtained more than 60 patents. He has successively won the first and third prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, and was awarded "Beijing Advanced Worker", "Capital Labor Medal", "Beijing Youth May Fourth Medal", "Beijing Outstanding Youth", "National Top-notch Professional in Environmental Protection" and other honorary titles.
Prof. ZHANG Yongbo – Deputy Director, Guangdong Institute of Environmental Sciences
Prof. Zhang Yongbo is the deputy dean and a professor-level senior engineer of the Guangdong Province Academy of Environmental Sciences, concurrently serving as a standing member of the Ozone Control Branch, a member of the Environmental Planning Branch and Environmental Management Branch of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, the director of the Guangdong Province Regional Atmospheric Environmental Quality Research Center Technical Committee, and the deputy director of Guangdong Environmental Management Standardization Technical Committee. He has been engaged in atmospheric environmental research and management policies, standards research, etc. He presided over a number of projects including the Clean Air Action Plan for the Pearl River Delta, the Guangdong Province Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan, and the emission standards and technical specifications for key air pollution industries.

Prof. Don BLAKE – Distinguished Professor, University of California, Irvine
PROF. SHAO MIN – Professor, Jinan University
Min Shao, Dean of Institute for Environmental and Climate Research, Jinan University. His research interest is formation of urban and regional air pollution, focusing on sources and control of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Min SHAO published about 160 papers in air pollution and is the highly-cited scholar in the field of environmental sciences in China. He was the Co-chair of United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) panel on Environmental Effects Assessment of Ozone depletion (2011-2018), and the head of National Association of Volatile Organic Compounds Control, China, and secretary-general of National Association of Volatile Organic Compounds Control, China. Min Shao was supported by National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) for Distinguished Young Scholar, the leader of Innovation Team on air pollution complex under Ministry of Science and Technology, China, and the head of Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Joint Laboratory of Collaborative Innovation for Environmental Quality.
Prof. Jian YU – Professor, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Prof. Yu, Jianzhen is an atmospheric chemist in the Department of Chemistry and the Division of Environment & Sustainability at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST). She joined HKUST in 1999, where she is now a Professor. Her main research interests are the development of analytical methods for airborne organic compounds, atmospheric chemistry of various chemical compounds, chemical characterization of source and ambient aerosols for source apportionment and health effects studies, and kinetic modeling of gas-phase and multi-phase atmospheric reactions. Analytical techniques she and her group have developed have been adopted and used in many laboratories in the field of atmospheric chemical measurements. Her laboratory is a frequent provider for the analytical work for the PM2.5 monitoring network in Hong Kong set up by the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department. She is currently an associate editor for Atmospheric Environment (Elsevier).
Prof. HU Min – Professor, Peking University
Prof Hu is Professor of Peking University and Director of State key Joint Laboratory of Environmental Simulation and pollution Control (Peking University). She received Bachelor, Master, Ph. D degree in Peking University. Research Fields: 1. PM2.5 integrated source apportionment technology ; 2. Motor vehicle emissions, biomass burning and cooking emissions and their secondary formation ; 3. Mechanisms of new particle formation and growth to haze; 4. The aging of black carbon aerosol and optical effects ;5. Secondary aerosol formation and environmental impacts.
Prof. DING Aijun – Professor and Dean, Nanjing University
Dr. Aijun Ding, Professor and Dean, School of Atmospheric Sciences, Nanjing University. Prof. Ding has been long engaged in studying air pollution meteorology, interaction of air pollution with planetary boundary layer, weather and climate, and interaction of atmospheric physics and chemistry based on field measurement and numerical modeling. He has been Principal Investigator for over 20 national or ministry/provincial levels research projects, including one of the largest National Key Research & Development projects on air pollution study in China. Prof. Ding has published over 160 peer-reviewed papers in international journals like Nature Geoscience, PNAS, National Science Review etc., which has been cited over 8000 times. Prof. Ding has severed as a steering committee member for international programs/projects like iLEAPS, TOAR, and MAP-AQ, as a Scientific Advisory Group member for Reactive gases group of WMO Global Atmospheric Watch (GAW), and as a co-editor for journals like Atmos. Chem. Phys. and Sci. Rept. He was awarded with the 2015 ICTP prize by The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics.
Prof. ZHANG Hongliang – Professor, Fudan University
Prof. Hongliang Zhang is currently a professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Fudan University Since 2019. He received his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from Tsinghua University in 2006 and 2008, respectively. He received PhD degree from Texas A&M University in May 2012, before working as a postdoc in University of California, Davis for two years. He was an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University from 2014 to 2019. He is also a registered professional engineer in Louisiana. His research interests include source apportionment of air pollutants with an emphasis on the size and composition of atmospheric particles and gas-to-particle conversion processes, a better understanding of the interactions between aerosols and climate, and the effects of climate change on future air quality. He has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications.
Prof. CHEN Duohong – Guangdong Environmental Monitoring Center
Dr. Chen Duohong is a professor-level senior engineer of Guangdong Environmental Monitoring Center. In 2014, he was awarded as the National Environmental Protection Technical Young Top Talent. In 2017, he won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. He has successively won the first prize in 2015, 2017 and 2019, and second prize in 2016 of the Guangdong Environmental Science and Technology Award.

Source, Transport and Prediction of Air Pollutants
Prof. CHAN Chak-Keung - Dean & Chair Professor, School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong
Prof. Chak K. Chan is currently Chair Professor of Atmospheric Environment and the Dean of the School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong. His major research interests include aerosol chemistry and air pollution. His current research interest focuses on gas – particle interactions, including thermodynamics and hygroscopic properties of atmospheric aerosols as well as heterogeneous reactions related to the formation of secondary air pollutants. He was a faculty member at HKUST in 1992-2015. He was the first winner of the Asian Young Aerosol Scientists Award. He received the First Prize of the Natural Science Award in 2007, Second Prize of the State Natural Science Award in 2010 and the Haagen Smit Award of Atmospheric Environment in 2015. Recently his paper on “Heterogeneous SO2 Oxidation in Sulfate Formation by Photolysis of Particulate Nitrate” received Best Paper Award in Environmental Science and Technology Letters in 2019. He was Editor-in-Chief of Atmospheric Environment in 2008 - 2019. He has published over 220 papers with a total SCOPUS citation over 12,500 to date.
Prof. WANG Zifa – Professor, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, CAS
Prof. Jimmy FUNG – Professor, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Prof. Jimmy Fung is a Professor in the Division of Environment and Sustainability and Department of Mathematics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Prof. Fung has over 20 years of working experience with high-resolution mesoscale models, including the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model and others. The current major focus of his search is in the comprehension, prediction, and assessment of meteorological and air pollution problems associated with urban and coastal environments, like Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. More recently, his research group has studied the impact of urbanization on air pollution in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region. The evolution of local and regional sea-breeze circulation is believed to be responsible for forming the necessary meteorological conditions for high air-pollution episodes in the PRD.
Prof. Guy BRASSEUR – Professor, Senior Scientist and Group Leader, Max Planck Institute for Meteorology
Guy P. Brasseur is a Senior Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany, Distinguished Scholar at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, CO, USA and Distinguished Chair Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research focuses on the modelling of atmospheric chemistry and specifically on stratospheric and troposphere ozone. He is the former Chair of the International Geosphere Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and is a member of several academies.
Prof. Allen ZHENG – Professor, Jinan University
Prof. YUAN Zibing – Professor, South China University of Technology
Dr. Zibing Yuan is currently a professor in the School of Environment and Energy, South China University of Technology (SCUT) since 2015. He received his Bachelor’s degree at Peking University in 2002 and PhD degree at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2006. He worked as Post-doc Fellow, Research Associate, Research Assistant Professor, and Manager of Atmospheric Research Center of Fok Ying Tung Graduate School at HKUST during 2006-2015 before joining SCUT. Dr. Yuan’s research interests include formation mechanism of ozone and PM2.5 pollution and their co-control strategies, source characterization of organic species with high reactivity, and interaction between air pollution and climate change. Dr. Yuan has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, and has been Principal Investigator for over 10 national or ministry/provincial levels research projects, including National Key Research & Development project of China and NSFC Key Research Project. Dr. Yuan is one of the core members of the SCUT-HKUST joint lab on Air Pollution Prevention and Control over the Pearl River Delta.

Exposure, Health and Economic Impact Assessments
Mr. Simon Ng - Director, Policy & Research, Business Environment Council.
Simon is responsible for BEC’s work on policy advocacy, thought leadership development, and collaborative research on various environmental issues that BEC focuses on, such as climate change, decarbonisation, circular economy, clean energy, sustainable mobility, air pollution and sustainable living environment. Trained as a geographer, Mr. Ng is known for his ground-breaking work on ship emissions inventory in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta in which his collaboration with the shipping industry led to the launch of the Fair Winds Charter. He is also well regarded for his research and engagement work on walkability.
PROF. ZHU TONG – Dean, Professor, College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Peking University
Prof. Zhu is the Chair Professor of Environmental Sciences, Cheung Kong Scholar Program at Peking University (China). He is also a member of evaluating panel, division of environmental chemistry, Chinese Committee of Natural Science Foundation, 2006-2007; member of the International Committee of Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Pollution (CACGP), member of Editorial boards of Chinese Sciences, series B (chemistry), Environmental Chemistry, and Arctic Research, and a member of the Working group of Chinese SOLAS. His research focus is on air-surface exchange of mass and energy, heterogeneous reactions on the surface of fine particles, atmospheric transport and transformation of persistent organic pollutants, oxidation capacity of the lower atmosphere in the Tibetan Plateau, and the health effect of air pollution.
Prof. H. Christopher Frey - Futrell Distinguished University, Professor at North Carolina State University and Adjunct Professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Prof. Chris Frey is an environmental engineer based at North Carolina State University with an adjunct appointment at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research includes probabilistic and sensitivity analysis methods, measurement and modeling of human exposure to air pollution, and measurement and modeling of vehicle emissions. He is a past chair of the U.S. EPA Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee and past president of the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA). He was a lead author for IPCC guidance on uncertainty in greenhouse gas emission and contributed to WHO guidance on uncertainty in exposure. He recently chaired an independent assessment of human health effects caused by exposure to fine particulate matter. He is a Fellow of the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) and of SRA. He received the A&WMA Frank A. Chambers Award in 2019. His PhD is from Carnegie Mellon University.
Prof. HO Kin Fai – Associate Professor, Chinese University of Hong Kong
Prof. Ho is an Associate Professor of JC School of Public Health and Primary Care at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is an environmental scientist, focusing on exposure assessment of air pollutants in Hong Kong and China. He has strong background in analytical chemistry with many years of solid experiences in toxic air pollutants (TAPs) and health related research. His recent research focuses on toxic air pollutants and their impacts on human health such as particulate matter compositions, sources and health relations, exposure science and particle toxicology.
Prof. Alexis LAU, JP – Chair Professor, Division of Environment and Sustainability
Alexis Lau PhD (Princeton Uni.), JP, is a Professor of Division of Environment and Sustainability, and Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and also the Director of the Atmospheric Research Center at HKUST. His research specializes in Air Quality, Health Exposure, Weather and Climate, and his techniques include analysis of large-scale geophysical datasets, numerical models, and in-situ and satellite remote sensing. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and served on a number of green groups as well as many government committees in Hong Kong. Internationally, he is member of the Scientific Advisory Group of the World Health Organization Panel on the development of a Global Platform on Air Quality and Health.
Dr. SHEK Ka Wing – Assistant Manager (Environmental Div.), CMA Industrial Development Foundation Limited
Shek completed his doctorate degree study in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2010. He is a Building Services Engineer with considerable research and consultation experience in indoor environmental assessment, computational fluid dynamics simulation and built environment engineering, plus 8 years’ experience in applied building services engineering research (indoor air quality and thermal comfort). Shek is now an Assistant Manager in CMA Testing, responsible for inspection, certification and consultancy projects concerning with indoor environmental quality. Besides, he participated in projects concerning with organizational carbon audit and products carbon footprint.
PROF. FU JINGYAN – Professor, Jinan University
Prof Jingyan Fu is a professor at the Economics College and Director of Jinan University’s Research Institute of Resources, Environment and Sustainable Development. She was a Fulbright research fellow in Applied Economics of Dyson School of Cornell University. Prof Fu's research interest lies in green finance, environmental regulation and competitiveness, as well as evaluation of climate change policies. Deputy Director of Resource Economics Committee of China Society of Natural Resource, consultant of green finance of World Bank in China and expert of Energy Efficiency Project of Asia Development Bank of Guangdong Provincial Government. She is the chief author of the assessment report of Green Finance Innovation Pilot Zones of China hosted by Research Bureau of the People’s Bank of China. She is in charge of the projects of green finance innovation in Great Bay Area of the Guangzhou Municipal Government.

Prof. GAO Jian – Professor, Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences
Gao Jian, Professor and director of the Research Office of Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences. His research interest is comprehensive control of urban air pollution, source analysis of Particulate Matter, atmospheric environmental monitoring technology R&D and application. Seven national invention patents have been authorized, 2 second-class science and technology awards of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and 1 national patent Award. He has presided over and participated in more than 20 national and provincial projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (key projects, general projects and youth projects), the atmospheric pollution project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Special project on the Cause and control of heavy air pollution. As an expert, he participated in the air quality assurance work for the Beijing Olympic Games, APEC Meeting, G20 Meeting in Hangzhou, BRICS Meeting in Xiamen and other major social events. He is responsible for the source analysis of 2+26 urban particulate matter in the national "Cause and Control of Heavy Air Pollution" project, is a member of the technical expert group for source analysis of particulate matter.
Prof. NING Zhi – Professor, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Dr. Ning is an Associate Professor of the Division of the Environment and Sustainability of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He obtained his PhD in Environmental Engineering at the University of Southern California in 2009. His research interests cover the urban air quality, mobile source emission, and development of environmental monitoring technologies, with a focus on micro sensor and its application for air and emission monitoring. Dr. Ning also participated in the development of next generation air sensor operational protocol with the HK Environmental Protection Department. He is in the expert consultation committee on low cost sensors for World Meteorological Organization. Dr. Ning has been very active in technology innovation and development with more than 90 international publications, holding multiple US and China patents in PM2.5 and gas monitoring with international award.
Mr. Joseph LAW – Senior Director – Planning & Development, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited
Joseph is currently the Senior Director – Planning and Development of CLP Power, the Hong Kong electricity business of CLP Group. CLP Power is a vertically integrated electricity supply business, serving 6 million people in its supply area. Joseph is responsible for corporate and strategic planning, tariff and regulatory management, as well as commercial project development. He has worked in different parts of the energy business from finance, renewable energy development, project management, strategic planning and commercial development. Joseph has a banking background before joining CLP and is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. John LO – General Manager, Trading & Supply (of an international oil company)
John Lo is the General Manager of an international oil company for Trading & Supply Operations for Middle East and for the Asia and LNG global operations. Prior to this role, John was the General Manager of the Aviation sector, where he was responsible for the operations of global aviation business and managed the R&D program on alternative aviation fuels development. He has extensive experience in the Oil & Gas industry and serves as Board Director of several private and publicly listed companies. John holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto and MBA from Durham University Business School.
Prof. Peter LOUIE – Adjunct Professor, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Prof. Peter Louie is a Senior Environmental Protection Officer and responsible for Marine Policy and Control in HKEPD. Prof. Louie is also an adjunct professor of HKUST and a guest professor of Peking University. Prof. Peter Louie obtained his B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from the University of Wales, and PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Leeds. He worked as Research Associate at the Energy & Environmental Research Center, University of North Dakota on the applications of supercritical fluid extraction for complex environmental matrix separation and analysis prior to joining Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department (HKEPD) in 1996. Prof. Louie was appointed as a member of expert panel in support of the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has been serving as an advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) on the development of the Global Platform on Air Quality and Health since 2015.
Dr. Eric CHONG – President & CEO, Siemens Ltd
Dr. Eric Chong currently serves as President & CEO of Siemens Ltd., leading the overall strategy in the areas of electrification, automation and digitalization and delivering sustainable solutions for infrastructure and industry in Hong Kong and Macao. Dr. Chong is currently the deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Business Environment Council (BEC) and is serving as the Chair of Climate Change Business Forum Advisory Group under BEC dedicated to promoting the awareness of Climate Change among businesses. He also serves as the Board Member of the Construction Innovation and Technology Application Centre (CITAC), the member of Cyberport Advisory Panel (CAP) as well as the member of the Product Promotion Programme Committee (PPPC) of Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Dr. Chong received his tertiary education in Electronics Engineering and Business Administration. He holds an MBA from Henley Management College in UK and a DBA from City University of Hong Kong.

Mr. Thomas Ho, JP, is the Chief Executive of Gammon Construction Limited, a Hong Kong based construction group with operations throughout China and South-East Asia, jointly owned by Jardines and Balfour Beatty. Thomas possesses over 30 years of experience in construction industry. He has been dedicated to spearheading project management and general management, safety initiatives and innovation excellence in the construction industry. He is very active in community services and professional institutes’ services and is recognized by the Industry as the figurehead in promoting Excellence in Construction Management and Quality Construction. Thomas was the Inaugural Chairman of CITAC (Construction Innovation & Technology Application Centre) which serve to develop the Centre to be the knowledge hub and to demonstrate local application. Thomas now serve as a Town Planning Board Member.
Ms. Grace KWOK – Chairman and Executive Director, Allied Sustainability and Environmental Consultants Group Limited
Ms. Grace Kwok has over 20 years’ experiences in acoustics, environmental and sustainability consultancy. She specializes in environmental impact assessment and built environmental studies for sustainable building design. As a member of HKGBC Green Building Faculty, BEAM Expert Panel and USGBC Faculty with qualifications including BEAM Pro, LEED Fellow, BREEAM AP and GBL Manager, she has the privilege to work on the first batch of green building projects in Hong Kong. Other than being a green building expert, Grace is also an experienced acoustician and sustainability practitioner advising on sustainability strategies and ESG enhancements for corporates.
